2020: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal speaks at a programme marking
the inauguration of foundation stone of 500-bed Universal Medical College
Hospital on the campus in the city's Mohakhali area on Saturday.
The foundation stone of 500-bed super speciality hospital
"Universal Medical College Hospital" (formerly known as Aysha
Memorial Hospital) was laid on the college campus in the city's Mohakhali area
on Saturday, said a press release.
Besides, the orientation for its MBBS sixth batch students
was held on the same day. Priti Chakraborty, chairman of the Universal Medical
College and director of FBCCI, presided over the programme while Home Minister
Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was present as the chief guest, inaugurated the
foundation stone.
He advised the newly admitted students to prepare themselves
well, as doctors are the first-class citizens of a country. Md Obayed Ullah Al
Masud, CEO and MD of Rupali Bank Limited, Dr Shahriar Nabi (Shakil), dean of
faculty of medicine of Dhaka University, and Professor Dr Fatima Parvin
Chowdhury, principal of United Medical College gave speech as the special
guest.
