2019: The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Monday
imposed ban on production and sale of 15 substandard products of 13 companies.
BSTI also cancelled the certification marks of the products.
The products are ghee (clarified butter) of Farmfresh Brand
of Akij Food, Shakti and Kitchena Soybean oil of Shakti Edible Oil, Fortified
Soybean oil of AK Khan Food and Beverage, Iodine Salt of Wood Brand of
Bismillah Salt Factory, Nazrul Brand Salt of Janata Salt Mill, Madina Lassa
Semai (vermicelli) of JK Food, Skin Cream of Modern Cosmetics, JM Skin Cream of
JM Chemical, Arabian Special Ghee of New Chatlar, Reven Lassa Semai of Reven
Food, lassa semai, ghee and chanachur of Khajana Mithai, halud gura (turmeric
powder) of Promi Halud, Ifad Iodine slat of Ifad Chemical, according to a
notification signed by Engineer Mohammad Sazzadul Bari, director of the BSTI.
According to the notification, the products were tested in
the BSTI laboratory after collection of samples from the markets.
The samples of the products have been found substandard
after the test.
The BSTI has urged the customers not to buy the products of
the companies.
